BROWNWOOD, Texas (AP) — Court records show a 17-year-old charged with capital murder in the shooting deaths of his father and stepmother at their West Texas home had planned on killing them for two weeks.
According to a probable cause statement obtained by Abilene television station KTXS, Cody Flores said he was mad at his father for not letting him move in with his grandmother.
Authorities said Abuith Flores and Ophelia Lucio were shot to death early Saturday in their home near Lake Brownwood.
Brown County Sheriff George Caldwell said Cody Flores called 911 and claimed the two were shot in a home invasion, but the teen's story kept changing and he eventually confessed to the murders.
Flores remained jailed Monday on $500,000 bond.
