Texas Proposes Alcohol Sales At Some Gun Shows

AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — A Texas agency wants to allow alcohol sales at gun shows that meet certain requirements, including not allowing live ammunition.

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission announced the proposal Friday. It will hold a 30-day public comment period before any rules would be enacted.

An agency spokeswoman did not immediately respond to telephone and email messages seeking comment.

The agency said in a news release that live ammunition would be banned from gun shows. Firearms must be disabled and not readily convertible for use. Sold firearms could not be delivered inside the building.

Under current rules, if a gun show is held at a venue licensed to sell alcohol, drinks sales and consumption are suspended during the time it takes to set up, conduct and dismantle the gun show.
