Plano Bombing Suspect, Attorneys Part Ways
PLANO, Texas (AP) - A North Texas man has formally cut ties with his attorneys after demanding to represent himself against charges that he tried to blow up a natural gas pipeline with a homemade bomb.
Anson Chi agreed in a motion entered in federal court Thursday to allow his attorneys to withdraw.
Chi indicated earlier this year that he wanted to fire his attorneys and represent himself.
The motion says Chi and his attorneys, Sminu Peter and Brook Busbee, "no longer have the same goals in mind" and that their relationship is uncooperative.
He has withdrawn a guilty plea for attempting to destroy an Atmos Energy natural gas pipeline last year in Plano, northeast of Dallas, and illegally possessing an explosive device.
He is scheduled to next appear in court April 3.
