Texas Man Gets 50 Years For Scalding Child
TYLER, Texas (AP) -- A Texas man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for forcing a 2-year-old boy into scalding water because the child urinated on himself.
Jurors delivered the sentence to 25-year-old Timothy Choice of Tyler on Thursday after three hours of deliberations. They found him guilty on Wednesday of first-degree felony injury to a child. He had faced up to 99 years in prison.
Authorities say Choice forced the boy's feet into the hot water in 2013. His former girlfriend's son suffered second- and third-degree burns.
Choice will be eligible for parole once he serves half of his sentence.
