DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — A North Texas teenager sentenced to 28 years for the 2010 slaying of two of his girlfriend's relatives will be paroled.
A juvenile court judge on Wednesday ordered the teen to spend up to a year in a halfway house.
Garland police say the then-13-year-old boy fatally shot Alan Nevil and his wife, Darlene. The boy was facing a maximum 40 year sentence.
The boy pleaded guilty to capital murder. He turns 19 next month and will be on parole until 2038.
Minors serve time in juvenile facilities. Their cases are reviewed when they reach legal age and could be transferred to adult prisons.
