Boy Killed By Step-Father Who Then Commits Suicide
Early morning gunfire ended a deadly, hours-long stand-off in Lewisville overnight. It started Thursday evening when a teenage boy was shot at a home on High Meadow, just off I-35 near Valley Ridge. Then the shooter holed up inside the home where a police SWAT team set up to negotiate. But the talking ended seven hours later when the man shot himself, ending what police believe was a domestic conflict. Neighbors believe the gunman shot his teenage step-son around 7:30 p.m. Moments later, the boy's mother escaped and pleaded with neighbors to call for help. Lewisville police captain Jay Powell says the SWAT team was able to speak with the step-father by phone but he would not emerge from the home. Then, around 2:30 a.m. today officers heard a single gunshot. When they went in, they found both bodies.
