Treat yourself to an unforgettable performance from Grammy Award-winner Marc Benno, who will be accompanied on drums by blues favorite Sugar Boy Myers, at 7:30 pm Friday, August 26, Allen Public Library. Sugar Boy played for the Freddie King band and a number of legends such as Eric Clapton and Leon Russell. Benno skyrocketed to fame after appearing on The Doors' iconic album "L.A. Woman", the last LP before Jim Morrison's untimely death. AND the show is free!
Coming up Saturday, (8/27) the 8 Frisco high schools will open the Ford Center at The Star with a football quadruple header. The games will begin at 9 Saturday morning inside the brand-new, 260-million-dollar, 12,000-seat domed facility at the Cowboys complex.
Saturday, August 27, 2016 Screams Halloween Theme Park will be holding their job fair for the upcoming season from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at the event's offices in Waxahachie. The job fair is for part-time, seasonal positions and all candidates must be available for employment for the duration of the five weeks of the 2016 Screams® Halloween Theme Park event which runs every Friday and Saturday Night September 30 – October 29, 2016 during the hours of 7:30 PM – 1:30 AM. Interviews for all positions will take place throughout the job fair. Screams® is looking for outgoing, energetic people 16 and older to fill the following positions: Haunted House actors, food & beverage sales, wait staff, kitchen help, cooks, ticket and souvenir sales, front entrance greeters, restroom attendants, safety services, exit surveyors and grounds crew. Applicants are encouraged to complete an on-line application prior to the Job Fair. Applicants are also asked to bring two forms of identification including a valid Driver's License, ID or Passport to the Job Fair. No appointments are necessary. Specific work hours will be discussed at orientation on Saturday, September 17, 2016.
The North Texas Fair and Rodeo is Friday and Saturday (8/26-27) at the North Texas Fairgrounds.
Only a few more days to take advantage of the August Dollar Days at the Dallas Arboretum.
The Grand Prairie BalloonaPalooza is at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie Friday through Sunday (8/26-28).

The Big Tex Choice Awards are Sunday (8/28) at Fair Park. Each year, State Fair concessionaires fry up unique foods for a chance to become a finalist in the Big Tex Choice Awards. Tickets to the 2016 Big Tex Choice Awards Judging / Tasting are $100. Tickets to the event allow you to be the first to taste the 2016 Finalists.
