WEATHERFORD (CBS11) – The Parker County Sheriff's Office says a Springtown woman has been arrested for providing marijuana and alcohol to minors at her home during a sleepover.

Deputies arrested Mandy Nichole Wells, 32 last Thursday.

They say the alleged party happened at her home in the 300 block of Meadow Road.

The Special Crimes Unit identified eight children between 12 and 14 years old who attended the party.

"She knows she shouldn't have done that. She wasn't raised that way," said Penny Mckinzie, Wells' former mother-in-law.

Mckinzie is also the grandmother of Wells' children, who are 11, 13, and 14. According to Mckinzie, all three of the children were at the party.

" 'I'm not very proud of myself, Penny,' Mckinzie says Wells told her when she visited the 32 year old in jail on Monday.

A search warrant of the home resulted in the seizure of drug paraphernalia.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Wells told the kids they, "could all drink some beer since they were spending the night."

Wells told investigators she "allowed the children to smoke and drink but she kept them under control."

She allegedly told a deputy that "she thought for a minute that it [giving beer and marijuana] was a bad idea but she did it anyway."

Investigators also say Wells admitted to "Self-medicating" a child because the child's medication was not working.

Wells is charged with second-degree felony delivery of marijuana to a child and a Class A misdemeanor for giving alcohol to a minor.

"I'm sorry for the kids that were there, I'm sorry that mine was there," Mckinzie tearfully told CBS 11, adding the mistake will cost the single mom and her kids dearly.

"She's already lost her job and the kids, she's fixing to lose her car. I don't know what she's going to do," the woman said.
