A collaboration between Austin composer William H. Meadows and choreographer Kerry Kreiman with members of the Contemporary Dance / Fort Worth (CD/FW) company, "The Butterfly Effect and Other Beautiful Catastrophes" is one of the highlights of this year's Modern Dance Festival. This collaborative work uses interactive technology to transform dancers' movements and gestures into sound using Nintendo Wiimotes (transmitting data wirelessly across Bluetooth and then routed to Kyma DSP software). Performed in the Grand Lobby with quadrophonic sound coming from four corners, the dance incorporates the majority of the lobby floor space, and viewers can stand and sit around the perimeter of the lobby.
