Storm Risk Starts To Rise

A warm, muggy and breezy day in store for north Texas for today.

The storm risk is small this afternoon and confined to the northwest counties. Of concern is the nature of the storms, they will likely produce severe weather if they do indeed break the cap ahead of the dryline:

The dryline is closer to the Metroplex on Wednesday and likely aided by an upper-air disturbance coming up from the southwest. The storms will likely develop to the west of the metro area and move in during the evening. Large hail and damaging winds are the main threat:

An approaching cold front and better upper-air dynamics look to produce a widespread outbreak of severe weather on Thursday. The worst of this will be north of us but its a 50% chance of storms on Thursday afternoon into the evening:

The main risk from these storms will be the high winds and large hail they could produce:

We have nice weather in store for Opening Day with temperatures in the seasonable mid-70's. But storms and rain return to north Texas by weekend:
