WILLIS, Texas (AP) — A 5-year-old Montgomery County boy is in intensive care at a Galveston burn center after his clothing caught fire.
Relatives say Ayden Cormier's mother was lighting a bonfire Friday for her children outside their home near Willis and left briefly to go to the restroom. When she returned she found him on fire.
The child's grandfather says the boy apparently grabbed a gasoline can while his mother was away.
The boy was taken to Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston. Officials say he's being treated for burns over two-thirds of his body.
Fire officials say invisible vapors from a gasoline container can cause a flammable cloud.
