Sooners Extend Contract For Stoops
NORMAN, OK (Sports Network) - The University of Oklahoma's board of regents has approved a contract extension for head football coach Bob Stoops.
The Tulsa World reported that Stoops got a three-year extension at $5.15 million per year. He also received a $75,000 annual raise in his base salary and other "stay bonuses" and "stay benefits."
The overall extension for the 51-year-old Stoops means he has a seven-year, $39.4 million deal, not including incentive bonuses, according to the newspaper. It runs through the 2018 season.
The newspaper also reports athletic director Joe Castiglione got a three-year extension.
In his 13th season coaching the Sooners, Stoops has compiled a 121-31 record, including a 78-18 mark in the Big 12.
