Softball Tournament Raises Money For Wounded Warriors
SOUTHLAKE (CBSDFW.COM) - Southlake softball and baseball players came out on Jan. 25 and 26 to raise money for wounded warriors in a slow-pitch tournament.
Ten teams competed in this year's event, according to organizer David Heintzelman.
In the end, the fundraiser pulled in over $5,500 to donate to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Heintzelman said the tournament was held for the first time last year, and was hugely a success, prompting its return this year.
The coed teams that competed consisted of high schoolers, as well as a parents team.
The participants of last year's event included two wounded warriors and former Texas Rangers player Kevin Mench. This year's lineup featured seven wounded warriors, along with Mench.
