Small Rain/Storm Chances Today

Last night and overnight a few storms moved across the area but the rain was rather sparse.  Lightning started some grass fires in Young Co. This storms were still around in the morning producing some lightning and light rain.

Today we expect more clouds and small afternoon storm chances.  These two will team up to keep temperatures out of the triple digit numbers (yesterday it hit 101°, the hottest day of the year so far).  We expect highs to still reach into the upper 90's so this is hardly a break in the heat.  Only expect about 20% coverage of the storms later today and this evening, lightning and brief strong winds possible with these storms.

Tomorrow on parade day the hot, dry weather builds right back in. We expect highs tomorrow to again reach toward 100° under mostly sunny skies. A little bit of a south wind should pick up in the afternoon. For all of those heading downtown to cheer on the champs make sure to pack water and seek shade as much as you can.

The hot weather continues to hold its lock on north Texas. Six days till the summer solstice but these 90's started in the last 5 days of May and haven't stopped since. I suspect we'll get right back 100-degree weather by Friday and Saturday. Overnight lows will stay in the upper 70's. Breezy afternoons bring at least modest relief to this heat; daytime gusty winds expected Friday through Monday

For the last three weeks storms have been common up in central Oklahoma moving west to east. Next week a slight shift in the weather pattern should open the door for these storms to start moving into north Texas some. This starts on Tuesday and could continue for the rest of the week (again, this is NEXT week).
