DALLAS (CBS11) - Down to the wire and pushing the limit, shoppers throughout North Texas are scrambling to find open stores to finish their shopping in time for Christmas.

Several stores will remain open until the evening hours of Christmas Eve.

Kohl's, Best Buy, Toys R Us, Target and Walmart are among the big-box stores which will keep doors open up until the holiday.

"I was having a lot of early Christmas fun. Taking my time. Thinking I'll have one more day, I'll have one more day," said Carrie Amerson.

As a flight medic working 24-hour shifts helping save lives, it has been tough for Amerson to knock out her holiday list.

"I work well under pressure. Maybe that's it?" said Amerson.

Having brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews coming into town, she still has to hit the grocery store for their holiday meal.

"The driving I think is more stressful out there than driving this car," said Amerson.

Others inside stores said they were not behind, but adding presents for people on their lists.

"I've been married a long time. Raised a couple of kids. So I think I got the drill down pretty well," said Eric Weinbrom.

Kohl's stores will remain open until 6:00 p.m. Best Buy will also close at 6:00 p.m. Toys R Us will shut its doors at 9:00 p.m. and Target stores in the area will remain open until 10:00 p.m. or 11:00 p.m.
