Sheriff's Search For Highway 67 Hit & Run Driver

DUNCANVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - The Dallas County Sheriff's Department is hoping someone who witnessed a hit and run Thursday night will come forward.

The wanted driver struck two women who were trying to change a tire along the service road of northbound Highway 67, at the Cockrell Hill exit.

Detectives were able to recover video of the driver actually hitting the women, from business security surveillance and city controlled highway cameras.

Sergeant Bryan Sherman said the video confirmed that there were witnesses to the crime.

"We see on the camera at least three vehicles that were almost directly behind the suspect vehicle," he said adding, "and there were several more that were near the offender's car that might have continued down the roadway and seen the suspect vehicle making some erratic movement."

The wanted driver is believed to have been behind the wheel of a white pickup.

"We do know that several witnesses out there did at least see this driver," Sherman said.

As for the woman hit, Sherman said they are recovering from their injuries at a local hospital. While one woman walked away with basically bumps and bruises, the other was hurt far more seriously.

"One [of the injured] basically had some contusions," Sherman explained. "The other one is in critical condition with several broken bones, but seems to be stable at this point."

Dallas Sheriff's are asking that anyone with information about the driver or who was in the area of Highway 67, around 8:25 p.m. on the 13th please call (214) 589-2335.
