Police Release Surveillance Picture As Search Continues For Galleria Dallas Shooter

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas police released an image of the gunman responsible for a shooting Tuesday at Galleria Dallas. t's a chilling still frame of security camera video showing a man pointing a gun inside the mall.

Galleria Dallas opened for regular hours today after abruptly closing when shots were fired Tuesday evening. One person was shot and the unidentified gunman is still on the loose.

According to Dallas police, two young men go into an argument in the third floor food around 6:45 p.m. -- just before closing. Police believe the victim and suspect knew each other.

"They were observed in a physical disturbance," explained Dallas Senior Corporal Melinda Gutierrez. "The disturbance escalated in which the suspect shot the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital. The suspect is currently at large at this time."

The gunshots led to a panic that sent customers running for cover. Today a police officer was stationed at the 3rd floor food court where the incident happened.

Blake and Madison Stanley were at the mall with a young child when the shooting happened and told CBS 11 News they came close to being hurt. "We saw him shoot into one of the food court areas... or like one of the restaurants," Madison said. Her husband Blake interjected, "If we would have been two feet over he would have shot us."

The victim, whose name has not been released, was able to walk out of the mall to the ambulance, before being taken to Parkland Hospital. There has been no update on that person's condition.

Wednesday morning Galleria Dallas gave a statement to CBS 11 News that said, in part:

"Since this incident is now an on-going police investigation, we are directing all inquiries to the Dallas Police Department   We are understandably concerned about the victim and hope for his speedy recovery."

No mall guests or employees were involved in the shooting or injured.

Dallas police are asking the public to look at the photo and help them identify the shooter. Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the shooting should contact investigators 214-671-3625 or send an email to Detective Ryan Cordova.
