Sandie's Arts Blog: West Side Story
It's one of the most beloved musicals of all time. WEST SIDE STORY originally ran on Broadway in the 60's and was then turned into an award winning motion picture. Now the Tony award winning revival lights up the Music Hall stage at Fair Park as the official musical of the State Fair of Texas. It continues it's crowd pleasing run through October 23rd.
It's time for some scary good fun at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington for their annual Fright Fest which is now officially in full horrifying swing! During the 15 days of thrills and chills, there will be plenty of fearful frights, 'monster-tainment', and spine-tingling adventures. By day guests can enjoy Halloween-themed shows for kids, but once the sun begins to set, the ghouls, zombies, and goblins come out to haunt the midways.
This is the last weekend to catch MOTHERHOOD THE MUSICAL. The good the bad and the laundry has delighted North Texans first in Fort Worth and now at the Eisemann Center in Richardson through this Sunday. it's a great evening or afternoon of a look behind the scenes of one of the hardest jobs in the world - parenthood - but one of the most rewarding...and as the musical shows - one of the funniest as well!
Don't forget it's week number two of our great State Fair of Texas! Bring the whole family down for some time tested favorite attractions as well as some new ones like the precious one week old baby llama in the children's petting zoo area. The Chinese Acrobats bring their jaw dropping talents to the stage as well as A-listers like randy Travis who will appear on the Chevy main Stage. You cannot let 2011 go by without a corny dog and a funnel cake!
See you next week...centerstage!
