DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -The Salvation Army warns North Texans to be aware of fake solicitors this holiday season.

Monday the organization received reports of several men going door-to-door asking for money on behalf of The Salvation Army.

The group of men was soliciting in the Lovers Lane area of Dallas. A resident said one of the men told her they were raising funds specifically for the organization's educational program.

The Salvation Army wants to remind residents that they never solicit door-to-door. Also they haven't even begun to ask for donation in the North Texas area yet.

Starting Friday, November 21, The Salvation Army's  red kettles will be visible at more than 400 retail outlets in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton and Ellis Counties.

The Salvation Army red kettle campaign raises funds to help individuals and families with assistance during the Christmas holidays.
