Report: Cowboys Stadium a 'Virtual Lock' To Host 2015 Title Game
ARLINGTON (CBS SPORTS) -- While the semifinals of the college football playoff, beginning in 2014-15, will rotate between six predetermined locations, the championship game will be bid out each year in a process similar to the Super Bowl.
According to ESPN's Brett McMurphy, Cowboys Stadium is a "virtual lock" to host the title game of the first college football playoff.
McMurphy also wrote on ESPN.com that "several communities opted not to bid" on the 2015 title game because Cowboys Stadium was already considered the favorite. The Arlington, Texas, stadium currently hosts the AT&T Cotton Bowl and the annual Cowboys Classic, played on the opening weekend of the college football season.
Tampa, Fla., has hosted four Super Bowls and the Final Four for both men's and women's basketball. Currently Raymond James Stadium is the home of South Florida during the season and the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day.
