Repairs Made To McKinney Pothole
MCKINNEY (CBSDFW.COM) - TxDOT is keeping its fingers crossed a patch placed on a pothole along US 75 in McKinney just south of Eldorado Pkwy will this time stick.
Wednesday morning, after causing tire blow-outs or major damage to at least 18 vehicles, the City of McKinney's maintenance crew went out onto the state highway and filled- in a large pothole.
"We wanted to jump in and do what we could," said city spokesperson Anna Clark. "It was definitely an out of the ordinary situation."
Repairs on US 75 are typically done by TxDOT.
However, as the rain fell the patch began to crack. By the evening rush hour, TxDOT closed the lane down leaving just one southbound open and patched the hole for a second time.
Ronnie Thomason, owner of Thomason Tires in McKinney, said potholes caused by the heavy rain has kept his shop busy.
"When they roll off in the hole it literally just flattens the sides of (the tires) because it's so deep," said Thomason. "So a lot of the time it will blow out the tire."
Drivers like, Maria Saucedo of McKinney, said she will do whatever she can to avoid hitting a pothole.
She said, "I can't afford to pay for tires every time because I hit a pothole."
