Rangers May Leave Bankruptcy Within Two Weeks
The attorney representing the bankruptcy court appointed restructuring officer for the Texas Rangers says the court intends to have the ballclub emerge from voluntary bankruptcy on July 22, although that is not a hard and fast date. Attorney Lou Strubeck says there are no meetings scheduled between the team, its lenders, Major League Baseball, and possible buyers, although he did note "that could change, and quickly." Strubeck was part of private talks Friday between the bankruptcy judge and the attorneys for the various sides, but no one involved in those talks would discuss what was said. Strubeck was willing to say it is his hope that a new round of bidding for the Rangers would come to substantially more than has yet been offered for the team.
