Rain Chances, Cooler Days Linger

   The August heat has decided to take a holiday. There are no 100° days in the foreseeable future for us. Good riddance:

Today at DFW we are forecasting a high of 92°. That would qualify for the coolest afternoon in two months:

The upper-level low that produced extensive flooding over Louisiana will finally start to pull away to the northeast. It stays well east of us so the best rain chances will continue to in our eastern counties:

Highs tomorrow will be even cooler thanks to the rain chances and clouds. It will have been 70 days since the last time DFW had a high in the 80's:

The last persistent weather pattern over the United States was the recent high pressure ridge over the Central Plains. That lead to 12 days-in-a-row of 100 degree days across north Texas. The NEW persistent weather pattern is an upper-level high sitting over the northern part of the Gulf of Mexico. This will help funnel moisture from the Pacific and the Gulf into north Texas.
