FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Two men are dead after they were shot early Sunday morning in an ordinarily quiet Fort Worth neighborhood. Investigators have released very little information about the shootings that happened on Buffalo Springs Drive in South Fort Worth.

Loved ones came by the home throughout the day Sunday to pay their respects. Friends and family asked for privacy while this investigation continues.

Crime scene investigators collected evidence while detectives interviewed family members and neighbors trying to piece together what led up to the shootings.

Jordan Milner lives across the street. He said his wife woke him around four in the morning and asked him to check outside.

"She said it sounded like somebody was banging over and over and over on our front door, said like the loudest bangs she'd ever heard, and apparently that was the gunshots that was going off," Milner said.

Police said when they got to the home they found two men dead outside.

"From my understanding the guy had an assault rifle, and from the looks of the street, the shell casings, he unloaded the whole clip," Milner said.

Officers took one man into custody they would only identify as a person of interest. Neighbors said that man lives next door to the home where the victims were found.

"We went to church with his family. They were nice, but he kind of kept to himself," Milner said.

Investigators tried to reassure neighbors who are not used to this kind of activity.

"That is unusual for this neighborhood. We don't have violent crime issues at this part of Fort Worth, so I can understand how neighbors in this area would be concerned," Fort Worth Police Sgt. Marc Povero said.

"This is a quiet neighborhood. Nothing like that ever happens around here. I mean that's kind of why we live here. It's safe," Milner said.

At last check, police have not made an arrest, but they also said they are not looking for anyone other than their person of interest.
