Parents Want Child Predator Suspect Caught

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Parents in one North Texas neighborhood are not taking any chances after several attempted abductions within just a few weeks. This is all happening near Keller Independent School District campuses, and police in Fort Worth are hoping that a new sketch of the suspect will help crack the case.

Police said that, on at least two occasions, a man has tried to lure children into his vehicle in a north Fort Worth neighborhood. The most recent case happened along Shiver Road. Parents are now very scared, and the want this predator off of the streets.

Authorities developed a composite sketch of the suspect with help from at least one of the kids that he allegedly targeted. The man is believed to be a white male in his 30s, with light brown hair and green or hazel eyes. He has a light complexion and a thin, muscular build. The suspect also has a tattoo on his arm that may include circles and crosses, and he may have a mole or freckle on the left side of his face.

Concerned parents and police officers met Wednesday night at Silver Sage Park. The group is encouraging residents to spend some time outside, watching over kids playing in front yards and walking home from school.

"My fear is the one child that doesn't know any better and does get in the car. You know, we'll never see him again. I mean, it's happening way too close to home," said meeting organizer Olivia Rodriguez. "We have so many stay-at-home moms. If moms would just step outside and make sure kids keep to and from school safe, if we could save one child, it's better than saving none."

Only a few students were walking alone on Thursday morning near Woodland Springs Elementary School. Parents at the campus said that they have talked to their kids about what is going on, told them to be aware of their surroundings, and said that they should never go somewhere with a stranger.

"My friend, she got almost kidnapped, and she lives in my neighborhood," said student Ashley Miner. "I'm kind of scared, but not too much."

Anyone with information about the man in the sketch is urged to contact the police immediately. There is a reward of up to $1,000 being offered by Crime Stoppers.
