Open enrollment begins April 1 for Dallas ISD's first universal free pre-K
Open enrollment for Dallas ISD's universal free pre-kindergarten program begins Wednesday, April 1.
This is the first year Dallas ISD will offer tuition-free pre-K for all 3 and 4-year-olds. It was unanimously approved by the school board at their March 26 meeting.
According to the district, originally, pre-K cost $2,500 a year for a half day and $5,000 a year for a full day. Free pre-K was previously offered only to students who qualified under federal, state, and district guidelines.
Dallas ISD joins Fort Worth ISD and Arlington ISD, which also have free pre-K programs. Their enrollment periods are also open.
