Officials Knew About Allen Eagle Stadium Concrete Problem For Months
ALLEN (CBSDFW.COM) - A clearer picture has emerged about how cracks in the concrete at Allen ISD's $60 million high school football stadium happened.
New documents obtained by CBS 11 show on September 20 -- five months before the district shut down Allen Eagle Stadium -- the Executive Director of Facilities at Allen ISD emailed the stadium's general contractor.
The email said "The school district is currently investigating concrete issues at the Allen ISD multi-purpose stadium. Thus far, the investigation is limited to concrete cracking on the concourse level."
A preliminary engineering report, dated January 15, said the cracks shortened the life of the stadium. At the end of last month, the district announced it was closing the stadium, during a more extensive investigation.
Allen Eagle Stadium opened in the Fall of 2012. The stadium features 18,000 seats, 192 bathrooms and a huge 75′ x 45′ scoreboard.
