FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Discussions continue in Fort Worth on Wednesday surrounding a proposed high-speed rail that would connect the Metroplex with Houston. City and county leaders will meet to debate the plans which would make Fort Worth the end point for a high-tech train.

The trip between Cowtown and H-Town would last only about 90 minutes, a fraction of the time that it would take someone to drive between the two cities.

The bullet train concept has been kicked around for decades, with $4.5 million of toll money being set aside each year to study the idea. The high-speed rail commission is sending a representative to Fort Worth on Wednesday to give an update on where the plan stands.

The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. and is open to the public.

There are also now private and federal government investors heavily involved with this project. Private investors have come to the table with plans to help build the $10 billion high-speed rail line. And, last year, the federal government approved research into building the high-speed rail between Fort Worth and Dallas, as part of this project.
