HIDALGO (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Officers have found more than $200,000 hidden in the seats of a car that appeared to be abandoned at a South Texas park near the Mexican border.
Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety say the driver has not been located in the incident in the town of Hidalgo.
A DPS statement says investigators on Tuesday received a tip about a car apparently left at Memorial Park. Officers and a law enforcement dog searched the area and then the vehicle.
Agents discovered 13 bundles of cash, totaling near $207,000, smuggled in the back panels of the front seats.
DPS says officers confiscated the cash as part of the continuing investigation.
