Off-Duty Fort Worth Officer Arrested For Shooting At Street Lamp
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A Fort Worth police officer has been arrested after a night of joy riding.
Early Monday morning off-duty officer Daniel Gonzalez and a friend were driving in his car when Gonzalez took out a handgun and shot it in the air, hitting a street lamp.
Gonzalez then handed the gun to his friend, identified as Bobby Newton, who then fired off a few shots hitting a street sign. Newton is a convicted felon
A Tarrant County Constable noticed the two and arrested them. Both appeared to be intoxicated.

Gonzalez faces two criminal charges; driving while intoxicated and providing a firearm to a felon and has been placed on restricted duty. He is a 9 veteran of the force.
In a statement, chief Jerry Halstead said 'decisive disciplinary action' will be taken. "This behavior will not be tolerated, period," he said.
Newton faces charges for possessing a firearm and discharging it within city limits.
Police say they are continuing their investigation into the case.
