North Texas Lakes Holding Their Own
98% of Texas is still in drought and with summer knocking at the door, the news doesn't look to improve. Thankfully though, our recent rains have kept North Texas lakes & reservoirs full or nearly so.
Most of our lake capacities are running between 75 to 100%. But lakes farther south and west aren't faring so well. You notice Lake Whitney in Hill County is at 66% capacity. Lake Travis, in the Austin area, is at 60% capacity and Lake Sweetwater in west Texas is running at only 50% capacity.
As water evaporates more during the summer, our lake levels will continue to drop unless we get several days of soaking rainfall. We at least have a chance of storms the rest of this week.
