North Dallas Seniors Love Doing The Wash
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - If the residents of the Highland Springs retirement community in North Dallas seem a bit jumpy or even a bit crazy, you really can't blame them.
They may be wise in years, but they're young at heart, and right now, their hearts belong to the Rangers and especially to one animated, enthusiastic and energetic manager. "When he gets his feet going, his feet go up and down a mile a minute. It's a riot," Ranger fan, Jack Melick said with a chuckle.
Nearly 100 residents of Highland Springs found themselves Wednesday getting step by step instructions on how to move like Ron, float like Ron and of course, dance like Ron. Activities Director Barbara Blachly was teaching them the "Wash."
"The key to doing the Wash is moving your legs up and down, up and down, up and down. That's why Washington is so thin," explained Blachly.
Ranger fans have become quite familiar with the Ron Washington show performed nightly in the dugout. Some say, it's down right inspirational. "Oh, it's wonderful. It's just an inspiration to me to have been able to learn the Wash," said Rangers fan, Mary Chancellor.
So if you happen to stop by the Highland Springs retirement community and you see a whole bunch of jumping and strutting and dancing, don't be alarmed. That's just how the "Wash" go.
