NFL Player Shot Outside Dallas Nightclub Recovering With Wounded Leg

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib is recovering after being shot at a Dallas nightclub early Sunday morning.
Police have released few details about the shooting, but local friends of the NFL player said he's home from the hospital and expects to be back to work as soon as possible.
It was just after 2:45 in the morning when Dallas Police got the call that two people had been shot outside the V Live nightclub following a fight in the parking lot.
Investigators say both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The Denver Broncos soon put out a statement that cornerback Aqib Talib suffered a gunshot wound to his lower right leg and is expected to make a full recovery.
"He's fine. He's 100% fine. He's at home resting, and he's resting and getting himself ready to get back to work," said longtime friend Shunte Nettles.
Nettles spoke with Aqib since he was released from the hospital. The two men coach a local youth football league Nettles says Talib has generously sponsored.
"He wanted to make sure that they were well taken care of as far as coaching and as far as equipment, uniforms, whatever he can help with," said Nettles.
That's why Nettles hopes anyone who may see the NFL player's involvement with a shooting at a nightclub as simply another example of a professional athlete getting into trouble will also see the positive impact Talib has had on his community.
"Not Aqib Talib. Not Aqib Talib. Aqib Talib is a standup guy. He's that guy in the community that's making a change by his actions," said Nettles.
Talib was scheduled to attend a White House ceremony Monday to honor the Broncos' Super Bowl victory. Nettles tells us Talib does still hope to attend.
