NFL Could Meet With Refs For Informal Talks

NEW YORK (CBS SPORTS) - While the NFL replacement officials continue to draw the ire of just about everybody not working in the league office, Jay Glazer said on FOX NFL Sunday that the NFL Referees Association and the league could meet Monday. CBS Sports confirmed that the two sides meeting is "definitely possible."

These likely won't be formal talks, but any kind of communication at this point would be positive.

Glazer also said that when the two sides met earlier this week, they got closer on some aspects of their negotiations but further apart in other areas. For instance, the officials reportedly want to be paid for the weeks they've missed while being locked out by the NFL.

Earlier on Sunday, the NFLPA sent out a letter to the league owners, calling on the NFL to end the lockout. "The NFL Players Association Executive Committee is calling on you to end the lockout of our referees," the union wrote. "We believe there is substantial evidence that you have failed in your obligation to provide as safe a working environment as possible."
