FORT WORTH (CBS 11 NEWS) - More than 200 people packed inside Arlington Heights United Methodist Church Tuesday night to remember two young girls who police believe were murdered by their mother.
Nika and Michaela Maria Kholendenko were remembered by Pastor Mary Spradlin who said the girls were loved and full of life.
Their father, Vadym Kholodenko, is an award-winning pianist who did not speak at the service, but used music to memorialize his girls.
His estranged wife, Sofya Tsygankova, was released from the hospital on Tuesday and booked at the Tarrant County Jail. Investigators told reporters she was spending the night in the medical housing unit and will undergo psychological screenings.
An arrest affidavit details that Vadym discovered the scene March 17th. The report indicates he told dispatchers, "…his wife was going crazy and she had blood on her."
When officers arrived, documents show Sofya, "..was rocking back and forth, and making noises."
Police said she had a puncture wound on her chest and a cut on her wrist.
The two girls were found in their beds with pillows nearby that had bodily fluid on them.
When officers later interview Sofya at the hospital, the affidavit shows she told cops she took lots of pills and remarked, "I think I committed suicide."
Officers report, "She stated at some point that 'she didn't want to live.'"
The arrest warrant also reveals Sofya had visited a mental facility just the day before the alleged murder.
Police said she told them that she, "…didn't see any future for me and kids."
Investigators also said she later asked them, "…did I do anything bad to my kids?"
