Mid-Week: Rain & Warmer

Some light rain has been moving across the metroplex this afternoon. The clouds are here to stay for the night, expect some occasional sprinkles and drizzle overnight. Lows will be mild, down to around 40 degrees.

 MONDAY

A cloudy day is expected tomorrow, setting the general theme of the work week ahead. We'll have highs barely nudge past 50° despite the mild starts. A steady southeast wind at 10-12mph and occasional sprinkles all day long. Not much in rain for the next two days though it'll look like rain just about the whole time.

 TUESDAY

An every warmer morning on Tuesday, lows down in the mid-40's thanks to the southeast wind and clouds. Its another cloudy day ahead with highs trying to get to the upper 50's. The rain chances do pick up as we go later in the day into the night. This will again be only light rain around as the winds pick up out of the SSE to 15-20mph.

 WEDNESDAY

This is going to be both our warmest and wettest day of the week. Despite the cloud cover the brisk winds will push temperatures into the upper 60's, the warmest day we've had since the 3rd of this month. Rain and storms chances peak in the evening and overnight with the heaviest rains from the metro area to the north. This rain could still be around on Thursday morning. We are not expecting severe weather but the HPC puts about .75" of rain in our area.

THURSDAY

The little bit of sunshine we are going to get this week will mostly be on Thursday. Once the morning rain clears temperatures will be mild, in the 60's again. Clouds will likely start to build back in from the southeast as Wednesday's front stalls to our southeast. This sets up a classic prolonged rain event for the weekend.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND

I expect a return to cloudy skies and light rain on Friday, highs will get to the mid-50's. Rain chances pick up into the evening and are around both Saturday and Sunday. It looks like an entire weekend of clouds and light rain, rain that could get moderate and prolonged by late Saturday and Sunday. This is a forecast that is suspect to change as we get closer; there is big disagreement in the long range models on when the cold air arrives. There is a chance for some winter weather as we get into Sunday but we'll wait to get some kind of consensus before we forecast our 2nd brush with a wintery mix
