Mavs Will Reportedly Make Offer To Hibbert
DALLAS (CBS SPORTS) - The Mavericks are going to have some cap room to play with this summer. And just in case Deron Williams doesn't work out, they're making some coningency plans. Including, reportedly, Pacers center Roy Hibbert.
DallasBasketball.com reports that the Mavericks have it in mind to make a significant offer to Hibbert who is a restricted free agent this summer. ESPN radio in Dallas reports that the Mavericks expect the Pacers to match any offer, but are going through the motions regardless.
It's an interesting concept for the Mavericks, who learned with Tyson Chandler that they need a seven-foot presence at the rim to pair with Dirk Nowitzki, and who still have questions about Ian Mahinmi. Center Brendan Haywood is struggling with injury but still has close to $38 million in contract left on his deal. Haywood has three more seasons guaranteed.
