Marriage Equality March Draws 2,000+ In Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - More than 2,000 people marched through the streets of Dallas on Friday in celebration of marriage equality.
"Love Rules," was the common theme as the crowd embraced one another and even witnessed a first for a church.
Two couples were married on stage at Cathedral of Hope in Dallas and now Texas will recognize the vows.
"You're just like, a weight lifted and you finally have federal recognition and that's so incredible," said Bill Young.
Young will soon marry his partner Ian. The two have waited years to get married.
Other couples like T'Anya Carter and Portia Cantrell already tied the knot in another state and will soon renew their vows in Texas.
"It just unifies the country. I mean all 50 states, we're in it. It's done," said Carter.
As the crowd danced and sang as they came together in Oak Lawn, they know there is still work to be done in terms of equality.
For locals like Rafael Cardoso, that means finding love and putting his new right to use knowing there is a future.
"What's next? I don't know? I guess I got to find somebody now," said Cardoso. "I mean everybody is excited about marriage equality, but there's still a lot of single people out there!"
Governor Greg Abbott has already vowed to fight the decision on grounds of religious freedom and state rights.
