Man Wounded After Shot By Police Officer

A man was wounded last night by a Fort Worth police officer. A police sergeant says an officer with the police department's Gang Unit was on patrol near Dunbar High School when he saw an SUV stopped in the middle of Katy Street. When he began approaching the car, the man tried to start the SUV and the officer began struggling with the man, who was holding a screwdriver. Fearing he might be stabbed during the altercation, the officer fired one round hitting the man in the leg. Though he was wounded, the man sped off and other officers stopped him about a mile away.  The driver has been treated for his wound and is now under arrest.
