Local Nurse Going To Help Take Care Of Injured Kids In Afghanistan

ROCKWALL (CBSDFW.COM) - A nurse who learned about patriotism from her father and grandfather says she's honored to serve in Afghanistan.  Olga Ventura Flores is the mother of three young children and she works in the Special Care Nursery of Texas Health Presbyterian in Dallas taking care of low birth weight and premature babies.

"It's a great honor" says Flores, who joined the Navy when she was 17.  She served four years active duty and has been a reservist in recent years.

She will leave behind her husband, Victor and their three children, five year old Alexander, three year old Nadia and two year old Elias.

"I think it's an opportunity of a lifetime to prove my patriotism, to let people in the states know that while they're going to take care of my children, know that I'm taking card of your boys and girls overseas" says Flores.
