Local Man Claims Victory In 45th Dallas Marathon

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — A local man won Sunday's Dallas Marathon after leading practically the whole race.
Logan Sherman of Dallas, who won the Dallas Half Marathon last year, finished first in the 45th installment of the full marathon with a time of 2:27:28. Sherman averaged 5:38 per mile, according to the organization. Ryan Siler finished second with a time of 2:43:57, and Luis Rojas took third with a time of 2:44:13.
The women's 2015 Dallas Marathon champion, Jamie Vest, finished with a time of 2:58:31. Vest's training partner, Sara Ibbetson, finished second with a time of 3:01:54. Third was Christine Kennedy, a 60-year-old runner.
Finishing the marathon with a time of 4:49:00, 72-year-old Rio King finished his 40th consecutive, and 42nd overall, Dallas Marathon, the most of any competitor, according to the organization.
The Dallas Marathon is the largest and oldest running marathon in the state, dating back to 1971, according to the organization. The Dallas Marathon nonprofit organization has donated more than $3.75 million to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children since 1997.
