DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - There's a free one-day clinic happening Saturday at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center but the deadline to register for it is Thursday night at midnight.

This is a chance for uninsured and underinsured adults and children to get medical exams, kidney tests, glucose tests, EKGs, cholesterol tests, dermatology screenings, vision screenings and glasses, and three months' worth of free medications.

Families who want to take advantage of this opportunity, must call 1-800-340-1301 by 11:59 p.m. Thursday to register according to the National and Texas Associations of Charitable Clinics.

Volunteer physicians and advanced nurse practitioners are still needed. Volunteers can register here.

The clinic will have appointments for patients from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday. Those who walk in without appointments have no guarantee of being seen.

The Texas Associations of Charitable Clinics says the state has the highest proportion of uninsured residents in its population at 29 percent,  almost double the national average.
