Irving Bus Driver Deliberately Drives Wrong Way On Service Road

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) -  An Irving bus driver faces disciplinary action after he admits driving the wrong way to avoid a backup on TX-183 Monday morning.

Once they tracked him down, the district says Yaw Boadi admitted driving the wrong way on the service road of the Airport Freeway because of a wreck that had traffic backed up around Story Road in Irving. Pat Lamb, Irving ISD's director of school safety and operations, says there was a special needs elementary school student on board at the time.

"But I know this," he said. "That driver will never drive again for Irving schools."

Boadi, who technically is an employee of Dallas County Schools, has been put on administrative leave and Lamb says he will not be driving a bus for Irving schools again. He's driven for the district since 2007.

The investigation started because of a picture taken shortly before 7 a.m. Monday of the driver going the wrong way (seen above). He had just picked his first student of the day, Lamb said, and was en-route to pick up others. His destination was John R. Good Elementary School.

After Spring Break, Lamb said he's been assured by Dallas County Schools that all drivers will undergo additional safety training courses.
