Cowboys Executive Vice President and Chief Branding Officer Charlotte Jones is on the move. She has a hand in almost every sector of the Cowboys organization. Most people are shocked to learn Charlotte is the chair of the NFL Foundation, which has the primary purpose of making the game safer for young athletes.
When asked if she relates to the concern other parents have when their kids play the sport, Charlotte responds "I have two sons who play the game. When you have 11 people in the huddle, and one says are you going to have my back…are you going to pick me up when I fall…celebrating the good moments and equally experiencing the disappointments…that is something you can't teach at home. That's what makes this game special."
Charlotte is the mastermind behind the Cowboys partnership with the Salvation Army, which has raised over two billion dollars for people in need.
When asked if she is smashing stereotypes for other women in sports ownership and business, she says "I don't know about smashing anything, but I'm fortunate my family has always supported me in my dreams and never placed limitations on me due to gender." She points out that 45% of the Cowboys fan base is female, and is proud to base a lot of her marketing efforts around embracing and continuing to grow that number.
Asking Charlotte who her favorite Cowboys player of all-time is, she answers "I have three kids total, and that would be like me choosing between them. It's not fair." However, Charlotte was not at a loss for words when talking about what Jason Witten has meant to the franchise, due to his play on the field and his work in the community (particularly standing up for women who have been victims of domestic violence).
An integral cog in the evolution of AT&T Stadium, Charlotte jokingly says "the day I drive up to it, and don't have that excitement anymore, it's time to get a new job." She promises fans will be blown away by the team's new headquarters, set to open next year in Frisco. As for the Jones family legacy, Charlotte says working for her dad has been a blessing. In her words, "seeing the passion he brings to the office every day, is contagious."
Charlotte Jones Anderson is creating quite a legacy of her own.
