The Foote Files: CBS Radio Houston

Hope everyone has been doing great! I took a few days off from writing this blog to take my family to Galveston and it gave me a chance to listen to the stations that comprise CBS Radio Houston.

Houston has a rich radio history. Gordon McLendon, the legendary Dallas radio showman, owned top 40 KILT-AM for years, simply known as "the Big 610 KILT". One of the most legendary rock stations in radio history was KLOL-FM, "K101" or "Rock 101."  And the market also had one of the most historic radio frequency flips a few years ago when the Clear Channel/AMFM merger took place.

CBS Radio Houston owns and operates six stations. On the AM side, we own KILT and KIKK. On the FM side, we own KHMX, KILT, KKHH, and KLOL.

KILT Sportsradio 610 is the place to turn to for hot sports talk and Houston Texans Football (simulcast on KILT-FM too). KIKK-AM talks all day on 650 kHz with top radio personalities like Neal Boortz and Clark Howard.

On the FM side, hear today's best "Mix" of today's top hits on Mix 96.5, KHMX. Need your country fix? Look no further than 100.3 KILT-FM with today's most popular country artists! Do you consider yourself hip and cool? Then you need the new HOT 95.7,   Houston's Hot Hits! And if your preference is today's top hits from the most popular Spanish language recording artists of the day, then it's MEGA 101…KLOL-FM.

The Houston-Galveston radio market, ranked # 6 in the US, serves a diverse audience of nearly five million people, and CBS Radio Houston has been a longtime leader serving this area.

See you next time.
