Jeep Club Comes To The Rescue Of North Texas Drivers

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Icy roads on Monday night caused headaches and traffic problems as the slippery roads proved to be too much for some drivers, but not all.
Dangling on the sides of Interstate-20 with their headlight beaming over the road, dozens of Jeep drivers spent the cold night trying to put their machines to the test for a good cause.
"To be honest, I thought, 'Oh Jesus.' I started calling on some Jesus," said Dallas driver Kenny Belar.
In the split second Belar took his eyes off of the road, he went from pavement to a slippery decent down a hill of bushes. "Just came out of nowhere and said, 'Do you need some help?'" he recalled.
Joe Torez came to his rescue. He pulled his Jeep up and began pulling Belar's Dodge Ram back onto the road. Torez is one of dozens of drivers belonging to the Chisholm Jeep Club who spent the evening helping stranded motorists.
"Not very many people do it these days and it's kind of one of those deals where you want to get out and help random people," said Torez. "We do it for free. That's it. Pay it forward."
A smile is all the reward these Jeep drivers need.
"He helped me real good. That's what good neighbors are. I called him a good neighbor," Belar said happily. "You still got good people in the world. That's how it sits with me."
The Chisholm Jeep Club plans to have some members hit the road Tuesday morning as they anticipate more trouble from icy roads.
