ROWLETT (CBSDFW.COM) - First there was a woman in Irving, stopped by a suspicious person, then there was an attempted abduction of a 14-year-old boy in Rowlett. Now the hunt is on for a man, driving what appears to be a Rowlett police squad car, who is impersonating a police officer.

The first incident happened June 23, when the man impersonating a Rowlett police officer pulled over a female driver in Irving. The woman says the man tried to arrest her on "a false traffic warrant." The woman said just didn't feel like she was dealing with a "real police officer" and called Irving police. When the suspect realized she had called the 'real' authorities he got in his car and drove away.

It's believed the next time the man pictured above was encountered was on July 29. That is when a 14-year-old boy, who had been playing  Pokémon GO, reported a strange incident.

The boy said he was a Rowlett park when a man in a Rowlett police car stopped near him. He said the man got out, told him his mother was looking for him, and asked him to get in the car so he could be taken home. The boy was leery because the man wasn't wearing a police uniform and had what he called a "fake looking badge" on his t-shirt. The man got back in the car and left after the boy took out his phone and threatened to call police.

The imposter is described as a white male in his 30's, who stands 5'6" and has balding, brown curly hair. At the time of the encounters the man wore rimless glasses, had on an orange t-shirt, blue jeans and cowboy boots.

The car the imposter was driving is described as a black and white Dodge Charger with the words "Rowlett Police" on the sides in blue lettering. The car also had a clear light bar mounted on top, but did not have a push bumper on the front.

Officials with the Rowlett Police Department confirmed that their police vehicles do not have blue lettering.

Police are now asking that anyone with information about the incidents in Irving or Rowlett, about the vehicle described or the person seen in the sketch above contact investigators at (972) 412-6200.
