Ice Storm Strands Fort Worth Students In Nation's Capitol
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A two-day trip to the nation's capitol turned into an extended trip of a lifetime for some Fort Worth 8th graders.
Students, teachers and chaperones -- seventy-seven people in all -- from All-Saints Episcopal have been stranded since Friday in Washington, DC, thanks to the ice storm in North Texas. They were visiting to study the Holocaust.
CBS 11's Tracy Kornet skyped with several of the students and principal Mike Gonzales, who all told her they have stayed busy with games, a talent show, and shopping.
School Tours of America picked up the extra costs incurred by the trip –- which totaled more than $20,000 -- everything from the hotel, to meals, security guards, activities and buses.
