Student sets off fireworks in Fort Worth high school bathroom, prompting lockdown and police response, officials say
A Fort Worth ISD student will face "steep consequences" after reportedly setting off fireworks in a bathroom, causing a brief lockdown of the campus, according to school officials.
The Fort Worth Police Department said at about 8:15 a.m., the incident was initially reported as a shooting at Arlington Heights High School, located at 4501 West Freeway, prompting a large police response and a lockdown.
When officers arrived on scene, they learned that fireworks had been lit in the bathroom, and the lockdown was lifted a short time later.
The city of Fort Worth said school administrators will review video footage inside the school to determine who lit the fireworks.
Police confirmed there is no active threat at the school.
