Hundreds Gather In Plano For World AIDS Day
PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - Crowds gathered in Plano Sunday to honor people who died from AIDS and to support those living with the disease.
A non-profit called C.U.R.E. held the ceremony commemorating world AIDS Day. Its mission is to combat the continuing risks and stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.
The group showcased a memorial quilt. Volunteers were on-hand to educate others about the deadly virus, which causes AIDS.
"Young people need to be made aware that they need to make wise choices in what they do going forward in their life to minimize the risks they take of being infected with HIV," said spokeswoman for the group, Roseann Rosett.
C.U.R.E. stands for community, unity, respect and education. This is the third year the non-profit has hosted the ceremony.
